this one is for the gurlz

1:13 AM

One of the best parts of my parents getting off the mish is having this great threesome reunited.  We do fun stuff together, like get cultured.
[Note: Willy Shakespeare and I hooked up, hence my hand on his thigh. Good fun, but it wasn't meant to be.]

My Mom, Sue Smith:
  • Intelligent
  • Knowledgable (different)
  • Genuinely friendly
  • Loving
  • Spiritual Powerhouse
  • Generous
  • Passed along a love for film
  • Easy to talk to
  • There for me
  • #shesnotjustmymomshesmybestfriend
My Sister, Brooke Hoopes:
  • Role Model
  • Thoughtful
  • Caring
  • Wonderful Mother
  • Funny
  • Smart
  • So fun to be with
  • Easy to talk to
  • Unfalteringly kind
  • Has adorable children

Both of these gals have been irreplaceable presences in my life.  I mean, duhh, my mom's important, but I'm not just saying that in a "i love my mom because she's my mom" kind of way.  I am genuinely delighted to have a woman like my mother around.  She makes life sweeter.  No one puts you at ease better than she.  I love to talk movies and news with her, she's stays up-to-date with current events even better than I do.  She's my cheerleader, she's my example.  I can always turn to her for advice.

My sister, too, is seriously awesome.  I am so jealous of the young women in her ward who get to have her as a leader.  Girls, you have no idea how lucky you are.  For a whole year, Brooke was my mom/parent/bigsister/guardianangel all in one while my own mother was still out of the country.  Anytime I was sick of college, I'd go play games with her and her great husband.  She introduced me to the wonders of sushi.  I am so grateful I've gotten to know her better and that she is such a solid example for me.  I may be totally unprepared for married life and motherhood, but anything that I DO know, came from her, and for that I owe her a lot.

And seriously, her kids are SO cute.  I don't know how a couple manages to have not one, but FOUR bright, beautiful, and nice children.
So basically, these two ladies are great on their own.  Then when we get to have time TOGETHER, things are just ten times better.  It's been over four years since we've had that opportunity to have these ladies nights.  It feels great to do it once more.

Love you girls.

  2. It's so amazing to have such a great relationship with your mom & sister. My family is pretty much the same and OMG my sis introduced me to sushi too! Ever since I was 10 at least one of my sisters has lived out of state. We've just recently all are back in Texas so it's always fun to have a girls night out :)
