the best way to spread christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear

9:10 PM

And by sing... I mean just play the piano.

So, I love Christmas music (who doesn't?) but the more I think about it, I realize that it isn't as simple as that.  I mean I've got a playlist or whatevs, I love Josh Groban just as much as the next person.  But when it comes down to it, I hardly listen to anything more than A Charlie Brown Christmas. And The Killers' x-mas singles.

Because, I'll be honest, there are some songs I seriously hate.  "Christmas Shoes" being one of them.  Dumbest. song. ever.  And I stand by that.

To me, Christmas music is all about experiencing it.  And by experiencing it, I mean playing it.  This is where I enjoy playing the piano the most.  It's like the music is a part of me, Christmas just makes my insides warm.

My mom has taught piano ever since I can remember.  So our house always has lots of Christmas cheer.  One of the best parts about this is her annual Christmas recital.  What's even better than playing Christmas music?  Listening to little KIDS play Christmas music...  I had the pleasure of attending hers after a three year hiatus.  It was great.  I love to see short little legs dangle off the piano bench while they pound out "Jingle Bells"

We always play a duet at the end.  It's super good.  I'm super good.  Jaykay for life.

My dad is super good, actually.
He is definitely the reason we still do this duet... I mean trio.
